Renault to drop Villeneuve
After disappointing outings in China and Japan

(GMM - Oct.15) Formula One insiders are considering the possibility that Jacques Villeneuve will not race a Renault in Brazil.

The French-Canadian was disappointed to the point of embarrassment with his form at Suzuka and was looking forward to improving fitness and set-up in a solid Jerez test.

But he only ran on one of Renault's three days in Spain this week, in contrast to regular test driver Franck Montagny's full programme including nearly 300 laps.

The speculation follows comments of former four time world champion Alain Prost's amazement that compatriot Montagny didn't get the nod to replace Jarno Trulli in the first place.

''(Franck) is under contract already and is a reserve driver,'' Prost said on French television, ''who deserved the experience.''
